Acquiring the quest
As you approach the Shattered Shoals, you encounter an ailing Sergeant Firion who calls out to you, requesting help.
Rescue the squad members
Find the three members of Firion’s squad, Edhelas, Onglorn and Nistel, scattered across the beach, the order is of no importance. The last one you find will tell you that they saw another Marine, Lieutenant Gelin, heading towards a nearby cave and ask you to find him. It will be of consequence later on this quest whether you hand them torchbug treacle or not.
Head further northwest along the shore until you see a cave entrance below a temple, the Temple of the Dark Moon. Enter the cave, which is full of snakes, including one of the giant variety. Gelin is in the back of the cave, tied to a post… and very much dead. Examine him to discover there is evidence of a ritual murder.
Leave the cave again to see that Sergeant Firion and her squad have arrived on the scene. She needs backup to find Gelin’s killers, and the ship Nistel spotted beached on the shore nearby may be just the ticket. Now is the first time you experience a consequence from your decision about how to treat the three squad members earlier. If you gave torchbug treacle to all of them, you’ll get three bottles of torchbug treacle at the end of your talk with Sergeant Firion.
Scouting out the stranded ship, you eventually will close in at the shore side gangway. Here you spot a Khajiit organizing some repair works and getting close enough you will get the task to talk to him. The ship is called the Prowler, and you’ll soon find that the Khajiit, Quartermaster Oblan, is less than excited to help, for two reasons: one, the ship is actually a privateer vessel; and two, they’re in trouble as well.
Talk to Firion again. This is the other occasion where having taken the time to collect torchbug treacle and giving it to the marines will pay back. You can have the sergeant order any squad member you gave torchbug treacle to, to take care about one of the tasks tat matches their skills or you can do them yourself. However, for each marine you did not give torchbug treacle, you have the task to do yourself.
Every marine you have an task assigned to will run off, to execute it. The task is immediately considered done.

The helmsman’s wheel
You can find the helmsman’s wheel to the west of the Prowler, behind a hill and some wreckage. It is guarded by two of the pirates.
The leaks are in the belly of the ship, accessible from either side of the deck.
The sun-sighter may be found randomly on the Sea Vipers (Lvl 4, 125 HP) to the west and north of the Prowler.
Their end of the bargain
Get all three jobs done and report back to Oblan.
The captain is on the forecastle of the ship, surveying the area. Go and talk to her.
Taming the wind
You find Mastengwe regenerating in one of the cabins below.
In order to get Suhr and Virkvild back, you’ll need a lodestone too. Go out and slay a Sea Viper to get one, then head northwest of the Prowler to the eye of the gathering storm. You’ll pass by a skyshard on the way and may encounter some Sea Vipers. Once on the ship there may be Jyklos present in the eye of the hurricane. He is the mage leading the ritual and will provide a tough fight if you are at beginner levels. But he has a long respawn interval, so it might be you will miss him. Activate your lodestone at both Suhr and Virkvild to release them from their bonds. They’ll run off gratefully. Your work here is done, so head back to the Prowler.
Collect your reward
Talk to the Captain in order to finish the quest.
